If you're thinking about picking up A Plague Tale: Requiem, then you might be wondering "does it run at 30 FPS on console?". A Plague Tale: Requiemhas just been released on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, and there's no way around it - the game is drop-dead gorgeous. It's certainly obvious that this game was built with the next generation of consoles in mind. However, some players are wondering if the game is locked at 30 FPS. Keep reading to find out if that's the case.

Does A Plague Tale Requiem Run At 30 FPS?

With the newest generation of consoles, we've become accustomed to expecting multiple performance options with the newest releases. It's not uncommon for games to offer players the option to prioritise either frame rate or resolution, depending on their personal preference. However, as games become even more visually complex, it's only natural that we start to see 30 frames per second becoming the industry standard once again.

Sadly, A Plague Tale: Requiem does run at just 30 FPS on consoles. There are currently no performance options that players can tweak to boost the frame rate beyond the 30 FPS cap. On both PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game is capped at a 1440p resolution and 30 frames per second. However, if you run your PS5 in 120Hz mode with a compatible TV, the game will push up to a slightly higher 40 FPS. This option is not currently available on Xbox Series X|S consoles.

We will update this article if developer Asobo Studio adds any console performance options to A Plague Tale: Requiem post-launch. For now, players will have to make do with the 30 FPS cap, or play the game on PC.
