Alone in the Dark minimum & recommended PC system requirements
Check out our full coverage of the Alone in the Dark minimum and recommended PC requirements, so you know exactly what hardware you need to run the game.
Thirty years ago you could run the original Alone in the Dark with less than 500 MB of RAM, but gaming has evolved and the PC requirements for the newest game are quite a bit beefier in comparison.
Alone in the Dark reimagines the first game with the new school of survival horror gameplay in mind, and with modern engines, it allows the game to do things previously impossible for the series.
The result of this is, of course, higher specification requirements - so here's a rundown of the minimum and recommended hardware necessary to play it.
What are the minimum & recommended system specs?
Here are the game's official requirements according to the Steam page:
Minimum requirements
Requirements | |
OS | Windows 10, 64 Bit |
Processor | Ryzen 3 3100 / Core i3-8300 |
Memory | 8 GB RAM |
Graphics | GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / Radeon RX 570 |
DirectX | Version 12 |
Storage | 50 GB (SSD recommended) |
Recommended requirements
Requirements | |
OS | Windows 10, 64 Bit |
Processor | Ryzen 7 3700X / Core i5-12400 |
Memory | 16 GB RAM |
Graphics | GeForce RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5700 XT |
DirectX | Version 12 |
Storage | 50 GB (SSD recommended) |
These are fairly generous hardware requirements for a modern 9th-generation game, and with the minimum requirements consisting of 5-7-year-old components, I think most players looking to try this on PC will be fine.
8 GB of RAM is considered below standard at this point, and the 10 series of NVIDIA GPUs are close to becoming obsolete due to hardware advancements.
There's even a free prologue you can play currently, so I recommend trying this as a benchmark for whether you can play the full game.
Do we know how big the download size is?
We don't know the exact download size yet, but considering you'll need at least 50 GB of space according to the specs, expect a download size over at least half that number.
This is on the slightly smaller side when it comes to modern games with photorealistic art styles (as they often require much bigger texture file sizes), but make sure you have enough room on your system before downloading.
