Shotguns tend to make things simpler, and the one I found in Alone in the Dark is a useful tool for fighting off the various enemies you'll encounter around Derceto Manor.

The game reimagines the original, modernising it with 3D graphics and a survival horror loop heavily inspired by Resident Evil. This means you'll need to rely on firepower over stealth and agility at some points, so make sure you're well-equipped by learning how to get the Shotgun.

Getting the Shotgun requires you to collect the three Lost Children Lagniappes, which are a set of collectible items that can be found early in the game. None of these are missable, so you can collect them at any point.

Once these have all been found, you can grab the Shotgun from its wall cabinet in the Small Parlor, on the second floor of the mansion.

How to find the Lost Children Lagniappes

Rubber Stamp

The Rubber Stamp is the first Lagniappe in this set you can pick up while you first explore the manor.

Head over to the Reception room (marked on the map above) and grab the item from the counter next to the hole in the wall.

Fountain Pen

Collecting the Fountain Pen requires you to find Batiste's Room on the western side of the second floor (marked below).

You can head there once you get to Chapter 2 and start to explore the manor more.

Dog Collar

The final Lagniappe of this set is the Dog Collar, which can be collected from the Drawing Room (marked below) after you complete the oil rig section.

Just collect the Palette Knife from the bag on the floor of the Small Parlor, and use it on the door to access the Drawing Room and grab the item.

Grabbing the Shotgun

If you picked up all the Lost Children Lagniappes in the above order like me, you'll be able to access the Shotgun immediately.

Just exit the Drawing Room, and you'll find the wall cabinet now unlocked in the next room.
