Apex Legends Ranked Split: When Does It Happen
Typically, there are two ranked splits during each season. The first one takes place at the beginning of the season, and the second one happens halfway through. The idea is to divide the season into two halves, hence the term "split".
Season 15 began on November 1st back in 2022, and the mid-season split is set to happen on January 17th here in 2023. This gives players just a few days to get as many ranked games in as they can to finish the split in as high a position as they can.

Apex Legends Ranked Split: How It Works
Thankfully, unlike a lot of other games that have similar systems, the ranked splits in Apex Legends do not reset your progress to the beginning. Instead, you will be moved back down the ladder and have to work your way back up.
It isn't a massive drop, each player is brought down one and a half tiers of the ranking system. So if you are in the middle of the Gold ranks, you will be brought back to the beginning of Silver. If you were just about to break into Diamond, you will be set back to just below the middle of Gold.
So for those of you thinking about jumping on the ranked grind, just know that each season, your rank will be lowered twice. You won't have to start from scratch unless you allow your rank to be dropped repeatedly, so there is always more to do.
