Apex Legends Shadow Royale 2021 Explained
Discover all the details on Apex Legends Shadow Royale: when Shadow Royale comes out, how it works, rewards, and tips and tricks to surviving Shadow Royale.
The fan-favourite Apex Legends Shadow Royale mode will return for the Apex Legends Monsters Within 2021 Halloween event. Apex Legends players have been anxiously awaiting the return of this zombies-inspired game mode ever since it was first released back in 2020. This guide will run readers through everything there is to know about Apex Legends Shadow Royale - one of the best-ever Apex Legends limited-time modes.
Apex Legends Shadow Royale: How Does Shadow Royale Work?
EA and Respawn Entertainment describe the Apex Legends Shadow Royale mode as a “darker version of the Apex Games, overseen by Revenant with a horrifying twist.” Shadow Royale begins like any other match, with 20 teams of three soaring down onto the map via Dropship. However, things get more sinister when a player is eliminated.
Upon death in Shadow Royale, players are brought back to life as a shadow. Players in Shadow-Form must assist their surviving squadmates and hunt down still living enemies. Shadow legends have infinite lives, so your match is not over until the final living squadmate falls.
Apex Legends players in Shadow-Form have an arsenal of tools at their disposal, including double-jump and the ability to wall-run. In exchange for their enhanced physical abilities, Shadow-Form players can only attack with melee.
Apex Legends Shadow Royale: When Will Shadow Royale Be Available?
The Apex Legends Halloween event — Monsters Within — is scheduled for three weeks from October 12 to November 2. However, Shadow Royale will only be available for the final week of the event. This would have Apex Legends Shadow Royale running from October 26 to November 2.
Apex Legends Shadow Royale: Rewards
Each week of the Monsters Within event will feature a new free reward track. Players that play Apex Legends and complete challenges from October 26 - November 2 — the week of Shadow Royale — will be eligible for a slew of free rewards, including a brand-new spooky Loba skin.
Apex Legends Shadow Royale: Tips And Tricks
- Build your loadout around close-range engagements. In Shadow Royale, Shadow-Form players will be rushing you non-stop at high speeds. In these scenarios, a sniper is useless. Weapons like the Peacekeeper and the Flatline are better suited for Shadow Royale.
- Choose the right legend. Certain legends and their abilities are tailor-fit for Shadow Royale. For example, Wattson’s fences are perfect for keeping out Shadow-Form players. Bloodhound’s scans are also extra handy, considering Shadow Royale is played on a nighttime version of Kings Canyon.
- Focus on the living opponents. You’ll need to deal with Shadow-Form players occasionally, but Shadow-Form players spawn back infinitely. The only way to stop Shadow-Form players from spawning is to eliminate their last living teammate. Hunt down the living players to win the game and end the Shadow-Form onslaught.
- If you’re someone that loves racking up high kill games, Shadow Royale is perfect for you. While now patched, players used to use Shadow Royale as a way to farm easy 20 kill games. With swarms of endless Shadow-Form players rushing you, it was not difficult to stack up double-digit kills and earn the 20 kill badge - one of the Apex Legends rarest badges. While this badge is no longer obtainable in Shadow Royale, players can still have fun achieving more kills than typically possible in the standard battle royale mode.
That is everything there is to know about Apex Legends Shadow Royale. Jump into the scary fun from October 26 - November 2 as part of the Monsters Within Apex Legends Halloween event 2021.
