Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Start date, Heatwave LTM, Ash Heirloom
Some fan-favourite legends finally get their highly-requested swimsuit skins in the Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event.
Welcome in the warm weather with the Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event. Alongside the array of limited-time Collection Event items, including a brand-new Heirloom, Apex Legends players can enjoy the Heatwave LTM, a free prize track, and some balance adjustments.
So, let's dive into the details of the Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event.
Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Start and end dates
The Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event kicks off Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Players can bask in the sun and enjoy all the summer festivities until April 11, 2023.
Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Heatwave LTM
The Sun Squad Collection Event introduces a brand-new limited-time mode called Heatwave. The Apex Legends Heatwave LTM is a twist on the standard Trios formula.
Periodically throughout a match of Heatwave, heatwaves will overwhelm Storm Point, forcing competitors to hide indoors and under objects to avoid taking damage. If you get stuck outside, you can slide to cool your temperature.
Of course, Heat Shields are a temporary counter to heatwaves, but even Heat Shields are vulnerable to the intense heat radiated by the heatwaves in Apex's Heatwave LTM. If you can find a Care Package though, the Sunglasses inside offer permanent protection from heatwaves — and extra style points.
Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Collection Event items
As is tradition with Apex Legends Collection Events, Sun Squad offers 24 limited-time items for collectors to amass. This time around, Ash, Mirage, Newcastle, Seer, Catalyst, and Loba receive Legendary skins. You can pair these beachgoer outfits with Legendary weapon skins for the Wingman, Havoc, Flatline, Alternator, and Peacekeeper.
You can cop these cosmetics under the Seasonal Collection tab in exchange for Apex Coins, Apex Legends Crafting Metals, or inside Sun Squad Event Apex Packs.
Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Ash Heirloom
The Broken Ghost, Ash, gets her first Heirloom courtesy of the Sun Squad Collection Event. Unlock all 24 Sun Squad Collection Event items to automatically receive the Strongest Link Heirloom for Ash. Ash's Heirloom appears to be a fusion of high-voltage nunchucks and a rope dart.
Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Free prize track
Those not interested in spending Apex Coins and Crafting Metals can still profit from the Sun Squad Collection Event thanks to the free reward tracker. Throughout the duration of Sun Squad, players can complete challenges to earn points and advance through the prize track.
Highlights of the Sun Squad Collection Event prize track include Legendary skins for the Charge Rifle and Rampage and an Epic skin for Bangalore.

Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event: Balance adjustments
The Sun Squad Collection Event brings with it some minor balance adjustments to Apex Legends.
For starters, the EVA-8 and 30-30 Repeater are now relegated to the replicator, while the Longbow DMR and Volt SMG can once again be found out in the wild.
As for legends, it's only right that Ash gets a buff to pair with her new Heirloom:
- Cooldown decreased from 25s to 20s
- Travel speed increased from 700 to 1200
- Tether activation delay and snare grow time decreased by about 50% (the Arc Snare will also more reliably hit intended targets)
Finally, expect a slew of assorted quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes.
The Apex Games don't always have to be so serious. Take a break to bask in the sun during the Apex Legends Sun Squad Collection Event from March 28, 2023, to April 11, 2023.
