The Thick as Thieves trophy in Astro Bot tasks you with capturing a photo of two legendary explorers in Crash Site, which is quite a cryptic description. However, if you’ve any knowledge of PlayStation’s extensive history, you’ll know that the two explorers in question are Lara Croft from Tomb Raider and Nathan Drake from Uncharted.
To unlock this trophy, you’ll need to find both of their Astro Bot replicas in certain levels, and then capture a photo of them both when you’re back in the Crash Site hub world. Here’s how you can do all of that as easily as possible.
Where to collect Lara Croft and Nathan Drake Bots
Nathan Drake
Nathan Drake is the first Bot you’ll come across, and you can’t miss him. All you need to do is defeat the Lady Venomara boss at the end of the Serpent Starway galaxy.
You might as well complete the next level, Dude Raiding, too - this is entirely themed on Uncharted as is one of my favourites in the whole game.
Lara Croft
Out of the two bots you need, Lara Croft is the second you have the potential to find. Head to the Hieroglitch Pyramid level, and progress through until you come across a bunch of silver blocks that slam down. Behind the last one, you’ll spot a place where you can use your spin attack to tunnel to a section below.
Once here, you’ll need to move through the corridor super slowly by pressing your stick very lightly. Lara Croft is at the end trying to open a chest. Hit square to add her to your collection.
How to unlock the Camera
Once you’ve got both of the Bots unlocked, you’re halfway to unlocking the Thick as Thieves trophy. All you need to do now is unlock the in-game Camera.
To do this, you need to open the Safari building in Crash Site, which requires collecting as many Puzzle Pieces as you can find. At the time of unlocking Lara Croft, I didn’t have the Safari building unlocked, and I’d collected roughly 80% of the available Puzzle Pieces so far.
If you haven’t found enough Puzzle Pieces just yet, I recommend you keep on playing through some more Astro Bot levels until you collect enough to open the Safari. It shouldn’t take you too much longer.
If you’re struggling, we have a collection of collectable walkthroughs to help you find those really hidden pieces in the directory to the right of this page.
Once you have built the Sarari building in the Crash Site, you’ll unlock the ability to take photos by pressing up on the d-pad.
How to take a photo of Lara and Nathan together
This is where things get a little more tricky, as getting Nathan and Lara together at the Crash Site can be a little finicky.
First of all, figure out where the two characters are. Nathan will always be sitting on a couch to the right of the area playing a video game, just like that one scene from Uncharted 4. Meanwhile, you’ll spot Lara doing laps of the PS5 mothership in the centre of the map, constantly chased by a T-Rex.
The method that worked for me was to call all of the Bots over to me when Lara was at the point closest to Nathan. To do this, hold the Triangle button to whistle, and every Bot in the area will come running towards you. If you stand roughly between where Lara and Nathan are, then they’re likely to bunch up close to each other.
Once you’ve done this, press up on the d-pad to bring out your camera and search for them in the crowd. Try to get them both in the frame and press R2 to capture a photo. This can be a little tricky, as there were several times when both characters were definitely in the photo but the trophy didn’t pop. If this happens to you, try to find a different camera angle that’s a little closer to both of them or exit the camera and try to call them over again so that they’re a little closer together.
Persevere with it, and eventually, you’ll unlock the Thick As Thieves trophy in the top corner!
