When I started up Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, I was surprised to see an option for Exploration mode. This mode is a less-guided experience for the game, encouraging players to explore for themselves.

But what are the exact differences between Guided and Exploration mode in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora? That’s what we’ll be answering in this guide, so read on for a full explanation of both modes.

What is guided mode?

Guided mode provides specific locations when available. This is the recommended way to play the game, according to the game’s settings.

This means you’ll get quest markers, informing you where you need to go if you ever get stuck. You'll see waypoints when you use your Na'vi senses to keep you on the right path in the game's large open world.

This is a pretty standard way to play, and similar to most open-world games, as it ensures players won’t get lost. Play this if you want to make progress quicker in the game's story.

Exploration mode explained

Exploration mode in Frontiers of Pandora.

Exploration mode will provide hints to quest locations, but it requires you to use the map and your knowledge of the world to find out where you need to go.

Essentially, this mode won’t hold your hand and it encourages you to explore freely and learn about the game’s world or use your knowledge to traverse your quest locations. It doesn’t give you a marker telling you exactly where you need to go.

Naturally, this might make the game a bit longer for you if you decide to use it. If you’re looking for a free adventure where you make your own discoveries, this might be a good way to play.

Other than that the game is exactly the same, and the content is the same regardless of which mode you pick.
