How to pass time in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
It's not an overly important feature to learn in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but it's a useful one to learn nonetheless. Here's how to pass time on the alien planet.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora comes complete with a full day and night cycle, with the sun setting and plunging the planet into darkness, just like our own. However, you might not have known that you can manipulate this cycle yourself, passing the time to achieve the exact time of day you like in the game.
Whether it’s for a quest, or just because you like a certain time of day better than another, here’s how you can pass time in Avatar: Fronters of Pandora.
How to pass time at a campfire
The only way we’ve found to pass time so far in Avatar: Fronters of Pandora is to visit a campfire. These can be found at most major settlements across the map, although my favourite one to return to is the one in a cave beneath Resistance HQ.
To pass the time at a campfire, walk up to it and press the interact button. This will see the screen go dark as time passes, and you’ll reawaken with time advanced by a quarter of a day.
There are four different periods that you can flick between, and they all occur in order:
- Dawn
- Day
- Night
- Dusk
So, if it’s currently daytime and you want to wait until night, you’ll need to interact with a campfire twice.
You can check what the current time of day is by opening your map and looking in the bottom right corner. Next to the compass, you’ll see some text that tells you what the current time is.
Why do you need to pass the time in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora?
I’m yet to discover a scenario when you’d specifically need to pass time in Avatar, as none of the main quests so far have required a certain time of day to complete them. Other games in this genre will sometimes have you return to a scene at a certain time, but Avatar doesn’t seem to have incorporated those elements.
So, the main reason why you might want to pass the time may be because you prefer a certain time of day to another. While Pandora is gorgeous to look at during the night, I find it quite hard to navigate once the sun has gone down. As such, I like to wait until dawn so I can properly navigate where I’m going.
