The Sorcerer is a Charisma-based spellcaster who can draw on inherent magic from a gift or special bloodline. They differ from Wizards by having a natural affinity for magic, rather than learning it over time from a school of magic.
Your focus as a Sorcerer should be on damaging enemies with your massive amount of spells, as you'll have access to a number of area-of-effect attacks that will help out when your party is outnumbered.

There are three subclasses for the Sorcerer in Baldur's Gate 3: Wild Magic, Draconic Bloodline, and Storm Sorcery. We'll explain each one below.
Draconic Bloodline
Your veins carry draconic magic, the result of a powerful dragon ancestor.
Subclass Feature | Description |
Draconic Resilience: Hit Points | Your hit point maximum increases by one for each Sorcerer level |
Draconic Resilience | Dragon-like scales covet parts of your skin. When you aren't wearing armour, your base Armour Class is 13 |
Storm Sorcery
Whether crackling with the energy of ancient deluges or pierced by gales and hurricanes, your lineage is a strange tapestry scrawled by a tempest.
Subclass Feature | Description |
Tempestuous Magic |
After you cast a level one spell or higher, you can Fly as a bonus action until the end of your turn without receiving Opportunity Attacks |
Wild Magic
Your powers come from ancient forces of chaos. They churn within you - waiting to burst free at any time.
Subclass Feature | Description |
Tides of Chaos | Activate to gain Advantage on your next Attack Roll, Ability Check, or Saving Throw. Increased chase of Wild Magic surge afterwards |
Wild Magic | Whenever you cast a level one spell or above, your magic has a chance to surge and trigger a random magical effect |
Our pick for the best Sorcerer subclass is the Wild Magic Sorcerer, as the features you gain are perfect for those looking to deal as much damage as possible.
Getting Advantage on your rolls with a bonus action is a big deal in combat, and the effects of Wild Magic surge can be devastating on enemies.
