Finding out how to get past the noxious fumes in Baldur's Gate 3 to infiltrate the Hag's Lair will allow you to defeat her and complete this early side quest - and will be vital in learning how to deal with gas in other areas of the game.

Baldur's Gate 3 is riddled with traps across its dungeons, caves, buildings, and various other locations, so you'll need to be able to deal with them. While disarming traps is one way, it's not always a method you can use in the game, meaning you'll need to rely on you and your companions' other skills.

So, take a look at how to get past the noxious fumes in Baldur's Gate 3 and get into the Hag's Lair.

How do you get past the noxious fumes?

The Baldur's Gate 3 noxious fumes trap can be beaten by blocking the vents, but this solution seems almost impossible at first glance.

This is due to the flowers located inside the fumes, which will explode on contact, igniting the fumes and damaging everyone inside further. Luckily, there is a simple workaround that lets you get through each cloud of noxious fumes in Baldur's Gate 3, so check out the steps below:

  1. Approach the noxious gas and pass the Perception check (Astarion is good at this) to see the vent and flowers inside

the Overgrown Tunnel and noxious fumes in Baldur's Gate 3

  1. Use a ranged attack on the flowers to ignite the gas and wait for it to return to normal (if you can't see the flower, use an area of effect attack)
  2. Throw a random item from your inventory onto the vent to block the gas
  3. You can now walk through the area unharmed
  4. Repeat for each gas cloud until you are in the Hag's Lair

It's worth noting that the majority of gas traps throughout Baldur's Gate 3 will have vents that can be covered to block the gas.

Keep this in mind whenever you encounter one, and try to bring a character with high Wisdom, or proficiency in Perception to ensure you always see the traps you want to deal with.

That's all for our breakdown of how to get past the noxious fumes in Baldur's Gate 3 to enter the Hag's Lag, and now you know what it takes to deal with most gas traps in the game.
