If you’re excited for Baldur’s Gate 3, you might be wondering whether or not you will need a PlayStation Plus subscription in order to play the game.
It came as a surprise to some when the latest game from Larian Studios was announced to be arriving on PlayStation 5, as well as on PC. Traditionally these kinds of games have usually been at home on PC where using a mouse and keyboard is preferred.
The game can be played online too, with up to four players, so if you do want to get a party together of yourself and some pals you can. Where Baldur’s Gate 3 is so heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, there’s an argument that playing the game with friends will be the optimum way to play.

If you’re planning on using online multiplayer, you will need PlayStation Plus in order to play Baldur’s Gate 3.
However, this is not an online only game, so if you’re planning on experiencing the story by yourself you won’t need an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
We are still unsure how playing the game using local co-op will work on PlayStation, on occasion a PlayStation Plus subscription is required despite not really playing the game online. So we will have to wait and see, but we will be sure to keep this updated as the game releases, so be sure to check back in.

Do you need to pay for Baldur’s Gate 3 online services on PC?
No, Baldur’s Gate 3 online services are completely free to use if you're playing on PC. This is a luxury that PC players are used to at this point, and that doesn't change with Baldur’s Gate 3 either.
So, if you do own the game on PC, then you’re just good to go - there is nothing else to worry about. Local co-op is also the same on PC, it’s as simple as plug in and go; it’s quite refreshing really.
