Battlefield 2042 Crossplay: Does Battlefield 2042 Have Crossplay?
Battlefield 2042 crossplay actually comes in the form of two branches of crossplay. PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 can play together while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 crossplay in a separate queue. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players have the option to opt-out of crossplay with PC if they choose.
The different generations of platforms are incompatible, which is why cross-platform play between next-gen and current-gen is disabled. PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 can participate in matches up to 128 players, while Xbox One and PlayStation 4 can only handle 64 players in one match. Furthermore, the Battlefield 2042 maps come in different sizes depending on which generation you play on.
Despite some worries about the availability of Battlefield 2042 crossplay on launch, all went well when the game started early access. This is also the first Battlefield game to include crossplay. No Battlefield title has ever had cross-platform capabilities, so this is a brand-new experience for Battlefield fans.
Battlefield 2042 Crossplay: Cross-Progression And Cross-Commerce
In addition to crossplay, Battlefield 2042 arrives with cross-progression and cross-commerce features. Cross-progression allows Battlefield players to share a single account's progress across all platforms. For example, Battlefield 2042 players can advance a single account on both PC and PlayStation 5.
Likewise, cross-commerce means that any purchases made on one platform will be shared with the same account when used on a different platform. That skin you purchase on PC will be available for use when you hop on the Xbox.
Along with all of the new cross-compatibility features, Battlefield 2042 includes AI bots that mimic the actions of real players. The purpose of these bots is to fill up leftover spots in lobbies. Players can also sink their teeth into a new battle royale-style mode and a sandbox mode. All in all, while the critical receptions hasn't been glowing so far, there is still a lot of content for Battlefield fans to explore.
