Looking for some games like Helldivers 2 to play? I've got you covered!
This list includes a variety of co-op and sci-fi shooters for you to try out. All of these games can be played with a friend, just like Helldivers 2, and I've tried to keep them close to that game in terms of gameplay. That means a lot of shooting aliens.
So without further ado, here are some of the best games like Helldivers 2.
Remnant 2
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
- Release date: 2023
- Key features:
- Challenging combat
- Classes and perks
- Loads of weapons to unlock
Just like Helldivers 2, you can play this game in co-op with your friends. It's a souls-like third-person shooter set across drastically different areas, including a futuristic planet, a fantasy forest with floating islands and a creepy old town.
It's a challenging game though, and it can take a while before you start to feel powerful. Once you've killed some bosses and claimed some unique weapons from them it really starts to get fun.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One
- Release date: 2014
- Key features:
- Incredible value
- Six co-op campaigns
- Classic multiplayer modes
If co-op sci-fi campaigns are your thing, this is one of the best value-for-money games you can grab.
The Master Chief Collection comes with six different Halo games, and all six of them are playable in co-op. Most of them support four players too, so you can get the whole squad involved.
Not to mention it comes with a whole multiplayer component too. The game isn't quite as popular as it once was, but you should still be able to find matches or join some custom games on the custom game browser.
Deep Rock Galactic
- Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4
- Release date: 2018
- Key features:
- Dwarves!
- Rocks!
- Stones!
Deep Rock Galactic has gained a bit of a reputation for being an ideal co-op experience, and it's easy to see why.
You can jump in with friends and do some missions, have a blast, then call it a day. It's relatively easy to pick up and play, and it's well worth a shot if you're after a co-op game to jump into every now and then. It has fully destructible environments and each player can play a specific role on the team to lead you to success.
Risk of Rain 2
- Platforms: PC, Switch, PS4, Xbox One
- Release date: 2019
- Key features:
- Insane amount of unlockables
- Crazy combat
- Huge bosses
Risk of Rain 2 isn't quite the same kind of game as Helldivers 2, but it's certainly very sci-fi and has a lot of crazy action going on, especially if you can reach the later stages of the game.
You can play solo or team up with others to take on increasingly difficult hordes of enemies in this rogue-like third-person shooter. It's not the most chilled-out experience though - even on the lowest difficulty, the game will throw tons of enemies at you, and if you die once you're toast.
Lethal Company
- Platforms: PC
- Release date: 2023
- Key features:
- Comedy gold
- Creepy monsters
- Easy to run on any PC
Lastly, there might be some recency bias going on here, but if funny co-op games are what you're after, then Lethal Company is an easy recommendation. It's not a shooter, but it's still one of the best co-op experiences if you have people to play with.
This game is best played over the in-game voice chat, as it leads to all kinds of hilarious situations. The gameplay is pretty minimal, but the random encounters with monsters create a lot of memorable scenarios. It's got plenty of jumpscares though, so be warned.
Those are all my picks for some of the best games like Helldivers 2 if you're after a co-op sci-fi experience!
