The Biomutant PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version is getting much closer, with its release date of September finally being announced in early July. Biomutant released onto the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One back in May 2021, and while it received some pretty mixed reviews, it still sold fairly well and many players did enjoy their time in the game's world. So if you're looking forward to the next-gen version of Biomutant for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, check out the release date and more below.

Biomutant PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Release Date

The next-gen version of Biomutant is set for release on September 6. If you own the version on the previous generation consoles, then you can upgrade for free, which also keeps your save file.

Biomutant PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Trailers

The only trailer for the next-gen version of the game was the announcement trailer, which released on July 6. It showed off some gameplay from the new consoles, along with the new features that are part of this version of Biomutant, such as native 4K resolution, faster load times, and default 60 FPS.

Biomutant PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Gameplay

Biomutant PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Gameplay

Obviously, it's the same game as the last-gen and PC version, so for those haven't played it, expect an open world action role-playing game where you play as a mammalian warrior in third-person. You can customise your character to your own liking, which will affect their statistics during play. There are a lot of weapon choices which you can make through collecting parts across the world, and different combo attacks are tied directly to weapons, allowing you to seamlessly switch during combat.

The story is based around missions and quests for different characters, and throughout these you can alter aspects of the plot by making different choices. There is also a Karma system, which may be familiar to those who've played older Fallouts, which is defined through your interactions with NPCs and factions.

One of the more unique features is also the ever present narrator, who chip in often to explain events. This does drop off toward the latter half of the game, and players can also reduce the frequency of narration if it bugs them.

Biomutant PS5 And Xbox Series X|S Platforms

Biomutant is already available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, so this next-gen version will only be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
