Defending yourself with a human shield is one of the biggest - and most exciting - new additions to Black Ops 6, as it allows for some rather humiliating scenarios if you're on the receiving end.

It can be a bit unclear how to actually pull it off though, so I've laid out exactly what you need to do below.

How to use a body shield

In order to use another player as a human shield, all you need to do is hold the melee button when positioned behind an enemy.

If this doesn't work and you instead activate an execution, you'll need to double-press the melee button instead.

Black Ops 6 Body Shield

Doing this will allow your character to grab the enemy, positioning them in front of your body as a shield. You'll be able to use your weapon, although you're restricted to hipfire.

Taking fights at longer distances might not be the best idea then, so try and position yourself in a smaller room where you'll be able to take advantage of the protection.

The body shield itself has a timer, which upon ending will eliminate the enemy you're using as a shield. If you die during this period though the captured enemy will stay alive, so you might want to take them out early if you find yourself in trouble.

To eliminate the enemy early all you need to do is press the melee button again, or you can release them by pressing L1/LB - maybe not the best idea though!
