When it comes to Call of Duty, ensuring your settings are completely right before you dive in is the first thing many of us do. Modern Warfare 2 is no different, and perhaps has more accessibility options than any previous title in the franchise. You can honestly spend your first few hours tweaking your settings to get the perfect setup.

One of the most important aspects of Modern Warfare 2 is ensuring your brightness and HDR settings are correct. With the game having dynamic lighting and a mixture of locales, it can take a lot to ensure you have the right balance. Here’s how to change your brightness and HDR settings in Modern Warfare 2.

How To Change The Brightness And HDR Settings In MW2

PC

Outside of the initial setup, PC players can change their brightness and gamma settings at any possible moment. To do so, players will need to open up their settings, and from here, go to the graphics tabs.

Scroll down, and you’ll find two options: One to display gamma and the other to change the brightness. You can now fiddle with your settings and ensure you have the right brightness and contrast levels for maximum effect. To make things easier, you can also add the settings to your favourites by pressing the C key. This will mean you simply need to visit the favourites tab to tweak any changes there.

Console

Things become a little strange when it comes to consoles. Upon loading up Modern Warfare 2, you’ll go through the initial setup which allows you to change the HDR settings before jumping in. However, this appears to be the only time in-game when you’re able to do so.

Unlike PC, there appear to be no options to tweak brightness, gamma, or HDR in the settings. This means you only have one time to ensure you’ve set this up correctly, which isn’t ideal. If you’re struggling with the settings you’ve created, then unfortunately the only option so far is to delete your save, along with your cloud save on your respective console, and begin again.
