How To Get Off Your Horse In Chivalry 2
While horse combat in Chivalry 2 is exhilarating, dismounting it can leave you a bit confused. If you're wondering how to, here's exactly how to do it.
Some things in life should just not be challenging, yet we come across obstacles that are more difficult than they should be. This often happens in games, when cumbersome controls can often confuse a situation that should be much more simple. Unfortunately, Chivalry 2 is one such offender.
Since the game’s launch back in 2020, Chivalry 2 has received numerous updates, and one released in the past few months added the inclusion of horses. While this is a great feature, and one many have gravitated towards, there’s one problem - players are struggling to actually get off the animal. It’s a bit of a pain, but it’s a very, very simple solution.

How To Get Off Your Horse In Chivalry 2
Charging into battle on horseback is an incredible feeling, especially with a lance in your hand as you’re taking out opponents left, right, and centre. The addition of them earlier this year has been nothing short of great and added a new dimension to the game
However, while the inclusion is worth praising, developer Torn Banner studios haven’t exactly made them the most intuitive to use. Sometimes, you need to get off your horse and get into the thick of battle, but it may seem no button prompt works when attempting to dismount.
The reason? You need to come to a complete stop before Chivalry 2 allows you to do so. It’s never really explained, which makes the issue even more perplexing. If you’re hoping to use the momentum of your horse to leap into battle, as of the time of writing, there is no way of doing so.
Here are the control prompts for PC and consoles on how to dismount your horse in Chivalry 2:
- PC: Press E while stationary.
- Xbox: Press X while stationary.
- PlayStation: Press Square while stationary.
Taking this into account, we also recommend dismounting somewhere quieter on the map. While the name of the game is Chivalry 2, players aren’t exactly known for being chivalrous, and will most likely take the opportunity to kill you during the animation of dismounting.
Hopefully, Torn Banner incorporates a smoother way of being able to get off your horse in Chivalry 2, but as it stands, just follow this simple instruction, and you’ll be able to continue fighting.
