All Concord maps & modes explained

As a multiplayer shooter, Concord lives and dies based on its map and mode selection. Here are all the maps and modes available in the game right now.

Set across the far reaches of the galaxy, Concord has some gorgeous maps for you to explore while taking part in its several modes.

Whether you’re interested in the more casual firefights or prefer something a bit more tactical, there should be something here that fits your playstyle.

This guide will cover all of the maps and modes that we know will feature in Concord. We’ve played some of them in the closed beta so far, and more will be played in the open beta this weekend.

All modes in Concord so far

There are currently six game modes that we know about in Concord so far:

  • Area Control
  • Cargo Run
  • Clash Point
  • Signal Hunt
  • Takedown
  • Trophy Hunt

Each of these modes is separated into two playlists: Brawl and Rivalry.

Brawl modes are your more typical, casual rulesets that generally don’t involve too much teamwork. These modes usually require players to work towards a high score, with respawns enabled.

Rivalry modes are round-based and require a bit more team strategy as you fight for a specific goal, with no respawns allowed.

Concord Game Modes

Area Control

We weren’t able to play this one in the beta, but the PlayStation Store listing describes it as a respawn mode where players fight to capture multiple zones around the map.

It sounds very similar to your typical Domination mode from the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield.

Cargo Run

Cargo Run is a mode where players must fight for possession of a cargo package in the middle of the map. Once acquired, it must be transported to one of two extraction zones, which they must defend for a short amount of time.

This mode is round-based with respawns disabled - if you die, you must wait until the next round to respawn. It sits in the Rivalry playlist and will be one of the more team-based, tactical modes in the game.

Clash Point

Clash Point also sits in the Rivalry category and features a single capture point in the middle of the map. The first team to capture the point wins the round. Respawns are disabled for this mode, too, making it another team-based affair.

Signal Hunt

Signal Hunt was originally listed as a mode that would appear in Concord at launch, but it has since disappeared from the game’s beta and the store listing.

Reports explain that the mode was similar to King of the Hill, with players fighting for control of a capture point that moves around the map periodically.

We don’t know when or if this mode will return in Concord, but we’ll update this guide when we do.

Takedown

This is your typical Team Deathmatch mode, with teams fighting to reach 30 collective eliminations between them.

Respawns are enabled in this mode, and it’s about as casual as Concord gets.

Trophy Hunt

Another conventional game mode, Trophy Hunt, is essentially a reskinned version of Kill Confirmed. Players will drop Trophies when they die, and you’ll need to collect enemy trophies to add to your score. You can also collect trophies from fallen teammates to prevent the enemy from scoring.

Just like Takedown, respawns are enabled for this one, so it resides in the Brawl playlist.

All maps in Concord so far

We’ve managed to play on five maps in Concord so far in the open beta period. However, Firewalk has confirmed that there will be 12 maps available in the game at launch, with each of them capable of hosting every game mode listed above.

Here are the ones we've seen so far:

Bone Mines

This is the one that’s coming in the open beta, so we haven’t had a chance to play it just yet.

A map preview shows lots of twisting corridors made of bones, which looks like it will suit itself well to close-quarters combat. It’s set on the in-game planet of Akkar.

Freewater

Freewater is a desert market town that bears a striking resemblance to something out of Star Wars.

It’s set on the planet of Glance and has a three-lane structure - two long flanks with a more open zone in the middle.

Shock Risk

This one is set on what seems to be an off-shore mining rig on the planet of Leviathan. With a muddy red and orange colour palette, there are lots of narrow indoor corridors to fight in, alongside some outdoor areas to the edges of the map.

Star Chamber

Star Chamber is perhaps my favourite of the bunch. Set at night on the planet Gloom, it’s a fairly circular map that revolves around a huge chamber in the centre.

Housed in the middle of the chamber is a glowing asteroid on a raised platform. With plenty of flanking routes and lots of verticality, it’s certainly one of the better maps on the roster.

Water Hazard

Last up is Water Hazard, also set on the planet of Leviathan. Much like Shock Risk, this also seems to be set on an offshore mining rig, except some sort of sea monster has attacked this one.

You’ll spend your time fighting around the dead carcass of said monster, adding some exciting environmental flair to the surroundings.
