Standard vs Digital Deluxe: Which version should you buy?
The main difference between the Standard and Digital Deluxe versions of Concord is that the premium version gives you a pack of cosmetic skins for each of the 16 characters, plus up to 72 hours of early access before the game officially launches on August 23, 2024.
The cosmetic pack is called the ‘Northstar Freegunner Pack’ and includes skins that look slightly more flashy than their original versions.
You’ll also unlock the ‘Vale’s Monarch Pack’, which includes skins for the character’s sniper and secondary weapon, but this is included for those who pre-order any edition, too.
Personally, the additional $20 cost isn’t worth the additional goodies that you get here. If you can put up with waiting a few extra days to play the game, then you’re better off saving your money. After all, most multiplayer games experience server and balancing issues in the first few days of going live. By waiting, you’ll likely end up skipping out on the headache.
Pre-order bonuses
Outside of Vale’s Monarch Pack, which is included if you pre-order the Standard Edition too, the only other pre-order bonus is entry to the early access beta.
However, the early access beta has since been and gone, running from July 12 to July 15. As such, the only incentive to pre-order right now is if you’re set on getting the Vale’s Monarch cosmetic items.
PlayStation Plus
Concord won’t be coming to PlayStation Plus for free when it launches in August 2024. You’ll need to purchase it separately if you want to play the game.
As the game is multiplayer only, you’ll need an active subscription to PlayStation Essential, the most basic tier of Sony’s subscription. This will allow you to play online multiplayer, as the game will be unplayable without it.
You won't need PlayStation Plus to play the game if you're playing on PC. However, you will need to connect your game to a PlayStation account, as Sony has recently made this mandatory for some of its titles on PC.
