It's very important to learn how to check and see damage dealt in CS2, as it can potentially relay important information to your teammates and let you know how close you were to a potential kill.
Counter-Strike is quite a hardcore FPS that doesn't give too much to its players in terms of damage numbers, often leaving you guessing how many times you actually hit that enemy player. The way to figure out your damage dealt has changed with the new game though, leaving many players to wonder where to find the vital information.
Thankfully we've got everything you need to know right here, so continue reading to learn how to check and see damage dealt in Counter-Strike 2.
How to check damage dealt in Counter-Strike 2
You can see how much damage you have dealt at the end of each round by looking at the player icons at the top of the screen. The amount of damage you dealt any of the enemy players will be indicated underneath their Steam icon, so you know how close you were to picking up that all-important kill.
This is currently the only way to check your damage dealt in both Competitive and Premier Mode, you are unable to get an accurate number after dying or at any time during the current round.
This is very different to CS:GO, where you could check the developer console to see how much you dealt to each player after you had died - letting you accurately communicate how low the enemy team is to your friends.
I think this is a positive change as it employs more risk and strategy in the game. Before, you'd be able to confidently use your pistol if you knew that the last player alive only had 10 hp, but now you will have to decide whether it's worth the risk and whether you can trust the accuracy of your teammates.
What affects damage in CS2?
One of the most frustrating things that players encounter in CS2 is hitting a high amount of shots but not dealing a whole lot of damage, and there are a number of reasons for this:
- Enemy player armour
- Damage drop off
- Hitting the wrong body parts
- Penetration
One of the most common reasons for low damage that you will encounter is your opponent's armour, as certain weapon types like Pistols and SMGs are disproportionately affected by Kevlar and helmets.
The Glock-18, for example, is pretty much useless against body armour, so I always try and prioritise headshots in pistol rounds as hitting an armoured body will take far, far longer than missing a couple of shots to the dome.
Another big factor is penetration, as shooting through any surface (or even any person) dramatically reduces the damage of each shot. AWP shots that were one-hit kills can suddenly take two shots, and you could find yourself spraying a whole M4 magazine before dropping an enemy if the surface is thick enough.
That wraps up everything you need to know about damage numbers in CS2, showing you how to check your damage dealt in each round, and answering why your damage numbers might be lower than you expect.
