You might be wondering if there will be a 2023 CS:GO operation in the works, as it has been quite a while since the last one. While CS:GO seems rather immune to the rise in popularity of live service games, its operations do provide players with new skins and ways to play. So, make sure to read the rest of this guide to find out whether there will be a CS:GO operation in 2023.

Will There Be A CS:GO Operation In 2023?

There will probably be a new CS:GO operation in 2023 if Valve follows its recent release trend, but we can't be absolutely certain that this will be the case. While recent operation releases have been generally quite consistent, there have been significant gaps in time that could reappear.

All going well though, a new CS:GO operation should be right around the corner, with plenty of new skins, stickers, and stars to earn.

CS:GO Operation 2023 Predicted Date

While no official information or dates have been announced by Valve for the next CS:GO operation, we can make a good guess by looking at the release patterns of all of the previous operations.

So, here's a list of every CS:GO operation released so far alongside their start and end dates:

  • Operation Riptide: September 2021 - February 2022
  • Operation Broken Fang: December 2020 - May 2021
  • Operation Shattered Web: November 2019 - March 2020
  • Operation Hydra: May 2017 - November 2017
  • Operation Wildfire: February 2016 - July 2016
  • Operation Bloodhound: May 2015 - October 2015
  • Operation Vanguard: November 2014 - March 2015
  • Operation Breakout: July 2014 - October 2014
  • Operation Phoenix: February 2014 - June 2014
  • Operation Bravo: September 2013 - February 2014
  • Operation Payback: April 2013 - August 2013

As you can see, the operations were fairly consistent between 2013 and 2017, averaging at around two per year. However, there was a two-year gap without a single operation between Operation Hydra and Shattered Web, which many fans will hope is not recreated.

Since the return of operations with Shattered Web, though, there has not been a gap longer than nine months, except for the wait for this next operation which extends beyond ten months at the time of writing.

This would indicate that a new CS:GO operation in 2023 is right on the horizon and could be announced very soon. Usually, there is very little time between the announcement of an operation and its commencement, so we will just need to keep our eyes peeled.

What Are CS:GO Operations?

CS:GO operations are limited-time events that bring new skins, maps, and even game modes to the first-person shooter. You can earn all of the new items by completing weekly challenges and earning stars, which are then redeemed in the various themed collections on offer.

You must purchase the respective operation pass in order to actually spend the stars that you have earned, but you can still play along even without the pass. Earning certain milestone numbers of stars will eventually earn you a tiered operation coin at the end of the event, which can be displayed on your profile.

Outside of the specific cases released with each operation (which can still be bought, sold, and opened on the Steam marketplace), any skins that are introduced with each event are exclusively earned during the time in which the event is live. They can of course still be traded on the Steam marketplace but can end up being incredibly expensive due to the lack of supply.

So, that should give you everything you need to know about the next CS:GO operation in 2023. Have a read of this CS:GO ranking system guide to find out all there is to know about the competitive tiers in the game.
