There are a few ways to get bones in Cult of the Lamb. The first major method is to fight in the dungeons. When you defeat the many minions that block your way to the bishops of the old faith, their carcasses will fall to the floor. When you see a skeletal figure, strike it with your weapon to gain its bones. You can also find them by hitting decorations in each dungeon room.
Some rooms with a lot of bones that you can enter while proceeding through the dungeons can be marked by a crossbones sign. Enter these to gain even more bones along your adventure.
After a few dungeon runs, you'll amass quite a lot, especially when you defeat each of the bishops, which drop a bountiful chest of goodies when killed.

Your newly amassed bones can be utilized within the church under Rituals. There are many bonuses you can gain by spending your bone resource. For example, the Feasting Festival costs 37 bones and will provide 30 faith and keep your followers' stomachs full. If you want to raise faith in your cult, the Feasting Festival can be incredibly useful. You can also gain a massive 80 faith from giving your followers a day off with the Holy Day Ritual and a 37 bone reduction.
Meanwhile, the Ritual of Enlightenment also costs 37 bones and increases your devotion speed by 20%. If you want to unlock more buildings, this ritual is the right one for you. Being strategic with your bone use is detrimental to your success in Cult of the Lamb. You can even sacrifice your own followers if need be.
