Cult Of The Lamb: How To Catch Octopus
Early into Cult of the Lamb, you will pick up the Beasts Below the Waves quest by visiting the Fisherman NPC in Pilgrim's Passage. This quest tasks you with catching four rare fish: an Octopus, Squid, Crab, and Lobster. The main - and best way - of catching the rare fish is by going fishing in Pilgrim's Passage, where you will find a pier and a marked fishing spot nearby.
Due to the rarity of the four fish, it will likely take you a long while just by fishing, and the chances of catching all four during a single session is extremely unlikely, however, the Octopus seems to be the easiest of the four fish to catch. You can speed up the process by performing a ritual though.
The Ritual of the Ocean Bounty can be earned by progressing through the Cult of the Lamb Doctrines until you reach Sustenance III. This ritual doubles the amount of available fish while fishing, and also increases the spawn rate of the rarer fish, allowing you to collect all the fish needed for the quest much quicker.
It will cost 75 Bones to perform, so it comes with a hefty cost, but if you don't want to put too much time into getting an Octopus and the other fish, it will make your life easier.
It's also worth noting there is a Cult of the Lamb Tarot Card that lets you collect fish from defeated enemies in your Crusade runs, but the rarity of the fish remains the same. Once you have your Octopus and the other rare fish, you can hand them in and complete the quest. This will reward you with a Holy Talisman Shard, and the Fisherman will begin selling fish.
