Darkest Dungeon 2: Early Access & Everything We Know
Here's everything you need to know on Darkest Dungeon 2, including its Early Access development cycle.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed, indie horror stress-fest Darkest Dungeon. The small team at Red Hook Studios have been hard at work to bring Darkest Dungeon 2 to all new heights, or depths.
While the game has been in early access for some time now, a concrete release date is yet to be confirmed. However, there is plenty of content here for players to sink their teeth into, and even some info on when we might expect the full game.
Darkest Dungeon 2: Release window and roadmap
The Darkest Dungeon 2 was released on May 8, 2023. Red Hook Studios have been keeping fans up to date with development on their website. Recently they posted a roadmap of upcoming features being added to Darkest Dungeon 2.
It breaks down the various features into milestones, with the first milestone to be hit in mid-February. At milestone six, the game will reach 1.0, so we have five milestones to go. Could this happen before the end of 2022? Hard to say, we should get a better idea of it when the next milestone drops.
Darkest Dungeon 2: Early access
Darkest Dungeon 2 entered early access in October of 2021, available on the Epic Game Store. As a roguelike, it is possible to finish the game in its current form. The developers say that what is currently available is approximately two-thirds of the finished product.
There will be more characters, enemies, bosses and items in the final version. As such, there are plenty of reasons to buy the game now if you are interested, with plenty more content to come for future playthroughs.
