Dave the Diver is a perfect pairing on Steam Deck with these settings
Dave the Diver is available on the Steam Deck and is often regarded as one of the best games for the handheld device, but just how well does the game run?
Dave the Diver is a gem of a game to bring on the go, but how does it run on Steam Deck? Dave the Diver can be played on both Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch, but folks who want the best handheld experience might want to fork out for the Deck version.
Dialling in the settings for the game is important to get the best experience, so here are the best settings you can use right now.
Steam Deck settings for Dave the Diver
Unfortunately, Dave the Diver does not have much in the way of settings to customise the experience. The game is capped at 60 frames per second, so you might want to lock your Steam Deck to a 60 FPS cap. This isn't great news for OLED users looking to get the full 90 FPS the machine is capable of, but the game rarely dips below 60, into the 50s at worst.
Resolution is also static, locked into a 16:9 ratio. As the Steam Deck has a 16:10 display, the game runs with small black bars at the top and bottom. If you can see past these slight drawbacks, you'll find that Dave the Diver runs really well on the Steam Deck without much effort at all.
We have found that the game draws about 10W of power on average, which equates to roughly 8 hours of play on a fully charged battery. If you are one of those people who gets absolutely sucked in by exploring under the water and running your sushi restaurant, rest assured that your Steam Deck will keep up with you for hours at a time.
That is it for our rundown of the game on Steam Deck. For more, head to our Dave the Diver homepage where we have guides like our beginner's tips, operator codes, the best restaurant staff, trophies & achievements, every boss, and how long it takes to beat the game.
