The Dead Island series is designed with cooperative gameplay in mind, making it the perfect game to play with friends so you can go on gory, blood-fuelled zombie-killing rampages, but does it support this with split-screen or local co-op?

With the game here for players to enjoy, you may want to harken back to the old days of coop gameplay and enjoy local split-screen with a sibling, friend, or loved one. So, check out if it's playable in split screen.

Is Dead Island 2 playable in split screen?

Sadly, Dead Island 2 is not playable in split screen and features no local cooperative gameplay features, meaning you and a friend will have to purchase a copy each to join up with each other online and play through the game.

The game supports a total of four players in an online coop session, meaning you can still play with friends throughout the whole experience.

The original Dead Island also didn't feature split screen and local cooperative play, and considering how more and more games have dropped support for the feature over the years, it's unlikely Dead Island 2 will get official cooperative split-screen play.

For PC players, you may be in luck though, as mods have added local split screen to the original game since release, meaning the same could happen for the sequel. A YouTuber called GamingXP is Alive managed to get split-screen working through Nucleus Co-op, so it's confirmed to now be possible.

We'll make sure to update this guide if an official split screen or local coop mode is ever announced, so remember to check back.
