Where & how to upgrade gear in Dead Space Remake
Read here to learn how to get nodes and upgrade gear in the Dead Space Remake. We'll show you the best way to spend your credits and how to switch between suits in-game.
Dead Space has been remade with 4k next-gen graphics; with this, you can crusade your way through the Ishimura rig in high-quality style. One thing that will never change, however, is the iconic Dead Space Laser Cutter, a fan-favourite and instantly recognizable weapon. To learn how you can upgrade the laser cutter, as well as your space suit and any other weapons or equipment, read here.
Where do you upgrade gear?
There are numerous workbenches scattered among the Ishimura, these are labelled as 'Nano-Circuit Repair Benches' and provide the menus to upgrade both your weapons and suit.
Suit upgrades range from O2 capacity to HP and more, whereas weapons typically deal in common upgrades such as capacity, damage percentage and reload speed.
See the image above for what to look out for, always check to see if you can upgrade anything before moving on as you may have picked up a node without realizing it.
The upgrade menu operates on a grid system, which means you may need to unlock certain upgrades before others. The grid will expand as you progress further into the game.
How to upgrade gear
To 'purchase' an upgrade at a bench, you must spend a node. Nodes can be scavenged across the ship like other loot. Usually, you can find nodes in storage boxes (see the image above).
Alternatively, you can buy nodes at any shop for 10,000 credits. Whilst this may seem like a lot now, you'll quickly accrue credits the more you explore, and the nodes do not scale in price. One node can purchase you one upgrade at a workbench,
You may also pick up treasure along your travels, these are called Semiconductors and vary in price and rarity. You can sell these items at a shop in return for credits which can then be used to purchase nodes. Nodes are worth investing in as a fully equipped suit can mean life or death very quickly on the Ishimura.
It is also worth noting if you have pre-order bonuses including different suits for Isaac to wear, these can be equipped at a shop by going into the 'Storage' menu and selecting which one you'd like to equip.
