Solstice 2024
Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions are among the toughest enemies in Destiny 2. If you aren't familiar with the inner workings of these elite Destiny 2 adversaries, you will struggle to advance through much of the game's end-game content. Don't fret though, because this guide contains everything you need to find and defeat Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Destiny 2.
Where to find Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Destiny 2
You can find Champions across all of Destiny 2, but they are most prevalent in end-game content like Dungeons, Nightfalls, Raids, and Destiny 2 Lost Sectors.
How to defeat Barrier Champions in Destiny 2
When duelling with a Barrier Champion in Destiny 2, a shield will pop around the creature when it gets to about half health. If you don't have the right equipment, the Barrier Champion will proceed to heal back to full health unbothered.
To defeat Barrier Champions, you must use anti-barrier weapons and/or mods or take advantage of various subclass abilities.
The Wish-Ender, Arbalest, The Lament, and Eriana's Vow Exotic weapons all feature Exotic Perks designed to take down Barrier Champions with ease. Alternatively, you can equip the Anti-Barrier Pulse Rifle or Piercing Sidearms mods to your gauntlets.
If you don't have access to any of these anti-barrier weapons or mods, you can utilise the following subclass abilities:
- Solar: While radiant, your weapons will pierce Barrier Champion shields and stun the target
- Void: Void weapons equipped with volatile rounds will pierce Barrier Champion shields and stun the target
- Strand: Strand weapons equipped with unravelling rounds will pierce Barrier Champion shields and stun the target
- To get the Arbalest, you must complete the Destiny 2 Lightfall Another Last City quest.
How to defeat Unstoppable Champions in Destiny 2
Unstoppable Champions are absolute tanks, able to absorb massive amounts of damage. These Destiny 2 Champions will pursue you endlessly unless you can stagger and stun them.
The Leviathan's Breath, Devil's Ruin, Malfeasance, and Bastion Exotic weapons can all stagger enemies and deal enhanced damage to Unstoppable Champions. You can also equip the Unstoppable Scout Rifle mod to your gauntlets, and you'll be ready for any Unstoppable Champions.
Lastly, there are a few subclass abilities suited for countering Unstoppable Champions:
- Arc: Blinding Unstoppable Champions with Arc abilities will stun them
- Solar: Igniting Unstoppable Champions with Solar weapons or abilities will stun them
- Stasis: Shattering Unstoppable Champions with Stasis weapons or abilities will stun them
- Strand: Suspending Unstoppable Champions with Strand abilities will stun them
- Represent your Guardian Class in the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023.
How to defeat Overload Champions in Destiny 2
Overload Champions are high-powered assailants that can teleport, self-heal, and deal amplified damage. To combat Overload Champions in Destiny 2, you must disrupt and stun them.
The Divinity, Le Monarque, and Thunderlord Exotic weapons are perfect for debilitating Overload Champions. Another option is to apply the Overload Auto/SMG or Overload Bow mods to your gauntlets. These mods can stun and disrupt targets and are extra potent against Overload Champions.
Additionally, you can make use of the subclass abilities listed below to defeat Overload Champions:
- Arc: Jolting an Overload Champion with Arc abilities or weapons will stun them
- Void: Suppressing an Overload Champion with Void abilities or weapons will stun them
- Stasis: Slowing an Overload Champion with Stasis abilities or weapons will stun them
Champions are formidable foes and can cause serious problems for ill-prepared Guardians. However, with the right tactics, you can defeat Barrier, Unstoppable, and Overload Champions in Destiny 2 with little to no issues.
You will find plenty of Champions in the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares Raid.
