Destiny 2 Catharsis is the final mission of the main story quest of Season of the Haunted. Destiny 2 has gone to a different place with the story of this season, choosing to focus on personal trauma and healing rather than bombastic space magic action. Okay, there is still plenty of bombastic space magic action, but with much more heart and meaning. Here is what you need to know about the Destiny 2 Catharsis mission.
- We are learning a lot about the characters of the game lately, such as exactly who is Rat in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 Catharsis: How To Begin
To begin this final mission of the story, you need to complete all steps leading up to it. If you have been taking part in the weekly story content that has been releasing since the beginning of this season, you should already be ready. If not, then head to your quest tab and get to work on the Bound in Sorrow quest. That questline is the main story of the season, and it is an important one so be sure to play through it.
For this final mission, the recommended power level is 1560, so be sure to come packing. This is essentially the endgame for the season, so naturally, it comes with a steep entry barrier. So long as you are levelled appropriately, you should have no issues here.

Destiny 2 Catharsis: How To Complete
Destiny 2 Catharsis has turned out to be one of the shortest, sweetest, and most straightforward of the story missions in Season of the Haunted. You start in the Castellum on the Leviathan. From here, make your way straight forward towards the Throne Room. Follow the corridor into the room, and go to the circle at the centre. Players who remember the Leviathan raids will be familiar with the layout here, but if you are a newer player, you may not know that the circle in the centre of the Throne Room is an elevator. Stand on it to head down and progress.
At the bottom of the elevator, go forward and enter the portal. Through here, you will meet up with Caiatl. The others are preoccupied, so it is up to you and her to face Calus. Jump down to the area below to begin the fight. Callus' projection will appear, and enemies will be summoned. Specifically, more of the Nightmare enemies we have seen throughout the season. The way to defeat Calus is to defeat the Nightmares, so get to work. Periodically, a scythe will appear in the centre of the room, so be sure to grab it when it does to do some huge damage.
The main thing to be concerned with is that Calus, like in the original Leviathan raid, will launch floating skulls at you. When he does this, Caiatl will put up a shield in the middle of the room. Stay inside the shield to avoid the skulls. When he stops, continue fighting the Nightmares. Each Nightmare defeated takes chunks of Calus' life away, defeat enough and you will win the fight.
There you have it, the steps you need to complete the Destiny 2 Catharsis mission. For more on the game, why not check out our Destiny 2 Calus bobblehead locations guide.
