Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 are coming soon, as Summer is soon upon us. Guardian Games in Destiny 2 has become a Summer tradition, pitting Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters against each other.

The best class *cough* Hunter *cough* is determined through competition between the classes throughout multiple modes within the game. This is the fourth Guardian Games competition, and each class has won one so far. This year, one class will take the lead, so be sure to represent your class well.

Here is everything you need to know about the 2023 Destiny 2 Guardian Games, including the start date and time.

Players who are looking forward to repping their classes have only a few weeks to wait for that chance. The Games begin on 2 May, beginning with the weekly reset that takes place that day. This coincides with the beginning of week 10 of Season of Defiance.

The Guardian Games will be active until 23 May, meaning players will have three full weeks to earn as many medallions as they can for their class. Once it's over, we'll be into Destiny 2 Season of the Deep.

The event will go live at the weekly reset, so you can expect to jump on at your usual weekly reset time.

As a reminder, that's 6 PM BST/10 AM PDT/1 PM EDT.

As with all Destiny 2 Guardian Games events, there will be gear to chase down. Last year, we earned the Void SMG, The Title, and that weapon will return - alongside a new one.

The gun, called Taraxippos (catchy, eh?), is a Legendary Scout Rifle which Bungie teases has "some amazing perk combinations". If you're desperate for a peek, you'll find the available perks at Light.gg, a Destiny database.

What we also know, as it has always been, is that there will be a new armour set for each class. Check them out below (we're quite fond of the Titan).

Oh, and as you can imagine there will be a new title available in Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 - Champ.

Bungie has finally revealed what to expect in a lengthy new blog post.

Players will earn scores through Strikes, with Guardian Games Ops and Competitive playlists allowing players to rack up the points and the medallions. Bungie says:

"Both are available with regular matchmaking and with class-based matchmaking that can earn you additional rewards. The Competitive Playlist will also feature a non-matchmaking option in case you want to compete with a premade fireteam."

Bungie is also introducing a Class-based playlist with the return of Supremacy to the Crucible, with players collecting "Crests" (like in Kill Confirmed modes in other series).

For the most part, you can play as normal and accrue medallions passively. Take your medallions back to the Tower, and deposit them to add points to the total for your current class.

If you are at all invested in this competition, you might want to only deposit medallions with your favourite class, but really it is up to you. The winners will get a statue dedicated to their class in the Tower for a year.

That is everything we know so far about the Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023. For more on the game, check out our Destiny 2 Terminal Overload guide, and our rundown of the Destiny 2 best PvP hand cannons.
