Strand Tangles are a feature of the new element added in Lightfall. Destiny 2 players are getting to grips with the new Strand subclasses, which feature several new concepts. Strand Tangles pop up quite a lot, but exactly how they work can be a bit unclear. Here is everything you need to know about Strand Tangles.
What are Tangles?
Strand Tangles are green orbs that drop often when using Strand in Lightfall. They have two uses, both involving doing massive damage to enemies. First, you can shoot Tangles to make them explode and do Strand damage to any nearby enemies.
Instead of shooting the Tangle, you can pick it up and throw it. It will explode on impact, allowing you to direct the damage of the Tangle. These are the regular functions of a Tangle, but they can do much more depending on your loadout.
For example, the new Swarmers Warlock exotic armor creates Threadlings when you shoot a Tangle, pairing the explosion with the seekers for huge damage out of a single Tangle.
How are Tangles made?
Tangles are created whenever you defeat an enemy who is affected by a Strand debuff. The three kinds of Strand debuff are Suspend, Unravel, and Sever. Suspend is the most obvious one, enemies affected by Suspend are held in the air, tied up in the Strand.
Unravel and Sever are a little less obvious, but quite common and easy to use. Unravel causes threads to burst out of enemies and attack others, whereas Sever greatly reduces the outgoing damage of the enemy affected by it.
There is a multitude of ways that you can inflict these effects, mostly it will be done by using Strand abilities. How exactly will depend on your build, so be sure to equip fragments and aspects that allow you to use them.
With just about any kind of Strand build, you are likely to be making Strand Tangles constantly. They can be a powerful part of the subclass, so be sure to make use of them.
