Destiny 2 gives out new exotic weapons on the first level of the season track for those who paid for them, but they can be acquired further along the free track.
The Manticore is an interesting weapon, it has a very specific perk but it might be even better for other reasons. Here is everything you need to know about how to get and how to use Destiny 2 The Manticore.
How to get The Manticore
Getting The Manticore couldn't be simpler, provided you have the season pass. Each season, the first item on the paid season pass is a new exotic weapon.
Players who have paid for the season pass can look forward to instant access to a brand-new gun every season. This may seem unfair to those who don't want to buy it, but the gun is still available for everyone.
If you do not pay for the season pass, you can still acquire The Manticore. This will take some work, however, but reaching level 35 unlocks the weapon for everyone.
That will take at least a couple of days of solid grinding, but with plenty of bounties and consistent playing, you can get there pretty quickly. This is advisable because the gun is very good.
How to use The Manticore
The Manticore has a fun exotic perk. Swooping Talons is a two-part perk, the first part has you building up an anti-gravity meter by doing damage and getting kills with the weapon. Once you have filled the meter up at least some of the way, if you deal damage while in midair you will stay airborne.
You can float about as long as you have anti-grav energy, and you keep doing damage to enemies. Also, the gun does more damage in midair, giving you all the more reason to use this feature.
As fun as the exotic perk is, what makes the gun great is the gun itself. The Manticore is a Void SMG, and for all intents and purposes, it is the Funnelweb but better. Funnelweb is one of the best guns in the game, it is a high-fire rate, accurate SMG that is great for mowing down opponents in the Crucible.
Almost all of The Manticore's stats are nearly identical to Funnelweb, and the ones that are different are significantly better. The biggest differences are that The Manticore has much better Aim Assist and nearly double the Stability of Funnelweb.
What results is an SMG that obliterates people in PvP just like Funnelweb, but is even more accurate and easier to use. The gun is a dream in the Crucible and a must-get for fans of Funnelweb.
