The fourth season of Diablo 4 is at its end, meaning Season 5 - otherwise known as the Season of the Infernal Hordes - is on the horizon with all the new content you'd expect and the Vessel of Hatred expansion, which is set to release a month after it begins.

Learn everything you need to know about the upcoming season below.

When does Season 5 start?

Based on the end date of the current season, we know that Season 5 will begin on August 6, 2024 at the standard daily reset time of 6 pm BST.

So far, all of the Diablo 4 seasons have lasted three months, which makes it easier to know when the next one will begin. However, due to the Vessel of Hatred expansion launching on October 8, we know that Season 5 will last just two months.

What do we know about Season 5?

Season 5 has now been officially named the Season of the Infernal Hordes, promises unlikely alliances, imminent threats, and, you guessed it, Infernal Hordes of hellborne enemies.

You might have already had a taste of what's to come in the limited Public Test Realm prior to release, but there have been a number of changes and adjustments that you should stay aware of before diving in again!

What are Infernal Hordes?

The Infernal Hordes is a wave-based mode that puts your skills to the test either in a solo environment or with your friends.

You can increase the rewards by selecting Infernal Offerings between waves, which augment your runs with boons and banes, enhancing the potency of enemies and the rewards at the end.

You'll face off against three of the five Fell Council members at the end of every Infernal Hordes run, giving you the ultimate challenge to truly test your aptitude and endurance. Each member has their own unique abilities too, which can combine in intriguing ways across the various combinations.

You can access Infernal Hordes on both the Seasonal Realm through a dedicated questline, and a brief path on the Eternal Realm at World Tier III too.

Everything else that's coming in Season 5

There are new Hellbreach Dungeons to explore and conquer in Season of the Infernal Hordes, allowing you to gain a glimpse of the action of the titular Hordes. You'll also be able to earn Burning Aether through these dungeons, earning yourself chests upon completion.

Within these chests and beyond too are over 50 new Uniques and Legendaries for every class. Who doesn't like new items after all, and they'll hopefully help you grow stronger - as you'll need all you can get to tackle the Infernal Hordes.

Finally, both Seasonal Progression and the Battle Pass return in Season 5, giving you opportunities to earn an abundance of new items and caches by playing your way through all of the new content.
