Whilst the game has manageable system requirements, the Diablo 4 stutter and lag PC players have encountered is becoming an annoying issue. Whilst waiting for future patches from Blizzard, let's get into how to fix the game performance with our Diablo 4 stutter and lag solution guide.

How to fix performance

Thankfully, there are a number of potential fixes for the Diablo 4 stutter and lag issue. Whilst the solution needed to fix game performance for everyone won't be the same, each method is definitely worth giving a shot nevertheless.

Updating your GPU

Sometimes, the stuttering or lag in new games like Diablo 4 can simply be resolved by a quick update to your graphics card. To update your GPU, simply carry out the following steps:

  • With your cursor over the Windows logo, right-click, and select "Device Manager".
  • Go to the "Display Adapters" option and expand
  • Move your cursor over the graphics card and right-click.
  • Select "Update driver".
  • Select "Search automatically for drivers".
  • Upon completion, restart your system, and try the game again.

Lower graphics settings

To make Diablo 4 more compatible with lower-spec systems, there are various graphics settings you can lower to lesson lag and stuttering. To lower your graphics settings in Diablo 4, carry out the following steps:

  • After launching the game, go to the graphics settings.
  • In the Quality Preset section, lower the settings for Texture Quality and Shadow Quality.
  • In the Performance section, turn on NVIDIA DLSS - which utilises AI supersampling to help Diablo 4 run with a lower resolution.
  • Upon completion, close the game and restart it.

Repairing Diablo 4's game files

There is a chance that the Diablo 4 stutter and lag issue lies in one of the game's files corrupting during installation. Luckily, the process to fix by scanning and repairing those corrupted files is very simple:

  • In the Battle.net app, go to the "All Games" section.
  • Select "Installed".
  • Select Diablo 4
  • Select the "Settings" option, which is marked as a gear icon next to the "Play" button.
  • Select "Scan and Repair".
  • Select "Begin Scan".
  • Once complete, relaunch the game and try playing again.

In the event that none of these fixes work, try submitting a ticket at Diablo 4's section of the Blizzard Support site. Help may not be instantaneous, but their agents are very experienced and well-versed in dealing with issues that come with new games - like Overwatch 2's "Applying update stuck" issue

That's all you need to know for now, thanks to our "Diablo 4 stutter and lag" issue solution guide.
