What Are Diablo Immortal Gems?
Diablo Immortal Gems are stat boosting items that you can socket into weapons and armour to increase your overall power. They come in standard and legendary variants and are split into three colour orientated categories.
Each Gem socket on an item can usually only take a specific colour of Gem, so not every Gem fits into every item. The boosts applied by the gems are more often than not tied to the specific item you socket them into though, so it doesn’t really matter where you put them, just that they’re on you in the first place.
Luckily, any Gem you socket into an item isn’t permanently tied to that item and can be either removed and replaced with a different Gem, or transferred to a new item if you are switching to a better sword for example.

How To Get Diablo Immortal Gems
There are a number of different ways you can get your hands on some Diablo Immortal Gems.
Through The Hilts Trader
The easiest and most consistent way to build up your Diablo Immortal Gems collection is to pay the Hilts Trader a visit. He can be found in Westmarch and gives you the option to purchase both standard and legendary gems in a number of ways.
Heading to the general tab you can sometimes find a Legendary Gem that you can buy once a month for 1600 Hilts, and then normal Gems which you can buy for 200 Hilts in batches of ten per week.
You can sometimes also find normal Gems in the limited time tab which are worth purchasing if you’ve met your weekly limit and really can’t get enough of shiny things.
In Rifts, Dungeons, And Hidden Lairs
Another great way to find Diablo Immortal Gems is by completing various rifts, dungeons, and Diablo Immortal hidden lairs. The best thing about this is that they are all tasks you’re likely to be doing naturally anyway, so are added bonuses.
Dungeons and lairs will usually drop you a standard Gem, but if you’re on the lookout for some high-tier variants make sure to use Legendary Crests in the Elder Rifts as there is a guarantee of one Legendary Gem per Crest used.
On The Market
Reaching level 30 will unlock the market in Westmarch, allowing players to sell items to each other in exchange for Platinum. You can buy both normal and Legendary Gems on this market, but as they can only be purchased with the Platinum currency it is not the most ideal way. It is great for situations where you have an exact Gem in mind though.
Crafted By The Apprentice Jeweller
The Apprentice Jeweller is a great alternative to the market if you don’t have enough Platinum. Not only are you able to craft the specific Gem you want - including Legendary ones - but also see every Gem you can currently craft and upgrade them too.
You will need to get your hands on Runes to be able to craft them, but there are a couple of ways you can get the specific ones you need, including running the Elder Rifts, so that’s a handy two in one trick.

How To Use Diablo Immortal Gems
In order to use any of your fancy new Diablo Immortal Gems, all you need to do is head over to any Apprentice Jeweller. The main one that is most convenient to you is found in Westmarch, but they are also scattered about in safe zones around the map.
Once you’ve got to an Apprentice Jeweller, all you need to do is go on the manage tab and then select the item you want to socket your Gem into. The game will let you know what type of gem the socket requires if you want to plan in advance, but otherwise, just select the slot and pick the Gem of your choosing.

How To Upgrade Diablo Immortal Gems
After you’ve successfully installed your Diablo Immortal Gems, you’re going to want to know how to upgrade them to make sure they get stronger with you. Much like the other upgrade methods in the game, this is a simple process that just requires the right materials.
For standard Gems, you will need to submit three other normal Gems of the same colour type to increase your rank. This can be done up to ten times and the upgrades are definitely worth the investment. From upgrade level five and beyond however you will need an additional echo crystal alongside the existing Gems.
Conversely, in order to upgrade Legendary Gems in Diablo Immortal, you will need to submit Gem Power, which is sourced from the dismantling of spare Legendary Gems by the Apprentice Jeweller. You only need one to start with, but it soars up to fifteen even at upgrade rank two. Higher upgrade ranks also require duplicate Legendary Gems of the same colour type alongside Gem Power, so can become rather expensive and troublesome.
So, that should be all the information you will need about how to find, use, and upgrade your Diablo Immortal Gems. If you’re wanting to put your newly improved stats to good use, why not tackle a tough quest with our Diablo Immortal Ancient Nightmare Zone Event guide.
