The post-launch support for Modern Warfare 2 DMZ has been consistent, giving players a new map, weapons, factions, missions, and more since the game was released in 2022.

With the recent introduction of the Redacted faction, many of the DMZ missions have become harder than ever. So, if you need a primer about the Reconnaissance by Fire mission, we've got you covered.

How do you complete the Reconnaissance by Fire mission?

The Reconnaissance by Fire mission is a tier two faction mission for the Redacted faction, which requires you to kill a bunch of Al Qatala and cartel enemies with three different scope types on the Kastov 762 rifle.

You'll need to kill seven enemies with each of the following scopes:

  • DF105 Reflex Sight
  • VLK 4.0 Optic
  • DrexSom Prime-90 Thermal Optic

For this mission, we suggest loading into Al Mazrah, and making your way to the Haif Port or Al Mazrah City POIs (marked on the map above), as the Al Qatala and cartel enemies are numerous in these locations.

Once here, you can bring up your Kastov 762 and get to killing. You'll need to kill seven enemies with each scope type, meaning you'll need to exfiltrate after getting seven kills or change your loadout.

It's also worth noting each subsequent scope has more range, so you don't even need to get close to the enemies when using the final two scopes.

Once you have ticked off all the objectives and exfiltrated, you'll complete the mission and receive the Contraband Kastov 762.

We also cover how to get the MW2 DMZ Skeleton Key, which is a really useful tool.
