Dragon's Dogma 2 will be open world, here's what we know
Dragon's Dogma 2 is going to have a huge open world for players to explore. Here's everything we know about the world's size and scope in this new fantasy RPG.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is boasting a huge open world for players to explore, and we've got the details right here.
If you like games where you can go off in any direction and explore undiscovered lands, this is probably already one of your most anticipated games this year. It's shaping up to be one of the best fantasy RPGs in a while.
For more on what to expect from the game's huge world, read on!
Dragon's Dogma 2's world is much bigger than the original
Dragon's Dogma 2 will feature an open world four times larger than the original game. That's pretty immense, and should keep players occupied for a long time.
What's more, the world doesn't feature a lot of hand-holding or quest markers. Players will be free to explore at their own pace and discover things themselves - something that makes me pretty excited as a huge fan of games like Elden Ring and Tears of the Kingdom.
It remains to be seen whether a much bigger world will translate to a better game, as some games have notoriously focused on quantity rather than quality. Judging by previews for the game, Dragon's Dogma 2 probably won't have this issue. It's shaping up to be a true adventure.
Making an open world game isn't easy
In an interview with GamesRadar+, the game's producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said "It's not just a matter of schedule – these games, especially open-world style games, they take a massive amount of resources, manpower, and development time and planning to implement".
So it should come as no surprise that this game has taken so long to come to fruition after the original was released back in 2012. Over a decade later, fans are getting ready to finally dive into this huge world once again, and it'll no doubt be full of things to discover.
These games are rare - titles with huge worlds and huge budgets for players to lose themselves in for potentially hundreds of hours. Hopefully, Dragon's Dogma 2 will stick the landing when it launches on March 22 this year.
