If you're wondering how to change Dying Light 2 ammunition then we've got you covered, as it's not explained particularly well in-game. Dying Light 2 ditches the guns from the previous game to focus on crunchy melee combat, but there are still some ranged weapons to be found. Primarily, you can use bows or crossbows, and both allow you to craft and find different kinds of ammo. So, here's our quick rundown of changing Dying Light 2 ammunition, including how to select ammunition types.

Dying Light 2 Ammunition: How To Change Ammo Types

Dying Light 2 Ammunition weapon wheel

You don't get a ranged weapon until several hours into the game once you meet Lawan and finish the Let's Waltz! quest. Afterwards, you will have access to a bow and be able to craft basic ammunition for it. The other kinds, such as exploding arrows, toxic arrows, shock arrows, and more, need to be unlocked by purchasing the schematic from a craftmaster.

Once you start making arrows, they can be found in the backpack tab of the inventory, underneath ammunition. There is also a special crossbow which can be acquired, but you have to assign four water towers or electrical stations to the Peacekeepers to unlock it.

The normal arrows will always be equipped by default, but sometimes you may need to utilise different arrows for certain situations. The game doesn't make it very clear how to change ammunition types - with no tutorial for it or keybind in the options menu - but it only requires a few button presses.

If you bring up the weapon wheel - with the number 3 key or right d-pad - and select the bow, it will list all the ammunition types in your inventory. You can then scroll through them all with the Q and E keys, the RB and LB buttons for Xbox controllers, and R1 and L1 for Dualshock controllers. Afterwards, there will be a very quick animation as you bring up the new ammunition type, and then you can use them as you please.

That's all for our guide on Dying Light 2 ammunition, and now you know how to craft and change ammunition types for ranged weapons.
