Dying Light 2 Crossbow: Earning The Crossbow
The Dying Light 2 crossbow is tied into the city alignment system, which concerns the two major factions - the Survivors and Peacekeepers. Early in the game, you will get a quest called Water Tower, which sees you take over an empty water tower, and at the tail end of the mission, you can choose which faction to align the building with. Both the Survivors and Peacekeepers have different rewards tied to the alignment system, with the former focusing on parkour structures, and the latter, combat structures.
Each time you align a water tower or power station in the city to one of the factions, you will earn a reward from their alignment tree. Both factions have a total of seven, and each reward is unlocked in order, meaning you need to assign seven of the buildings to earn all of them for a single faction. Luckily, the crossbow only requires you to align four buildings with the Peacekeepers for it to unlock. Two of these can be done during main quests, but the rest will need to be done optionally.

Dying Light 2 Crossbow: Using The Crossbow
Once you have unlocked it, the Dying Light 2 crossbow will be available in the player stash, which is found in any safe house across the map. The crossbow uses bolts which are part of Dying Light 2 ammunition. These are different from the arrow for bows, and you will have to craft these yourself - although the schematics don't all have to be unlocked. The other pros of the crossbow are that it doesn't degrade over time - thus requiring no repairs - and it's just generally more powerful than the game's bows.
That's our primer on the Dying Light 2 crossbow, and now you know how to earn it and use it effectively.
