Dying Light 2 Kill Or Save Hakon: Should You Let Lawan Kill Hakon?
The Dying Light 2 kill or save Hakon decision is one of the toughest players will face in this zombie epic. Here's what happens with each choice, so you know how to make the right choice.
The Dying Light 2 save Hakon or let him die choice is one of the most dramatic narrative moments in the whole game. Dying Light 2 forces players to make a number of choices throughout its campaign, with your choices impacting the narratives and some of the missions that you have available to you. The Nightrunners quest is one of the biggest deviations in the game, so if you want to ensure you are making the choice, then read on for our breakdown on the Dying Light 2 save or kill Hakon choice.
- This isn't the first time players have to choose to stick with Hakon, as there is also the Dying Light 2 help or leave Hakon choice, which will give you the option to try and avoid fighting if you decided to help.
Dying Light 2 Kill Or Save Hakon: The Lead Up
Right off the bat, access to the Dying Light 2 Nightrunners quest is dependent on the choices that you make in the Dying Light 2 Jack Matt, Juan, or Frank choice during the Broadcast quest. To gain access to these missions you'll have to pick Frank in that choice. Otherwise, choosing Juan or Jack Matt will lead to other missions that will eventually reconvene in the Dying Light 2 Veronika quest.
If you choose Frank, he and hundreds of the other survivors are warned of the incoming missile attacks, and survive. This then prompts Frank to send you off on an attempt to reband the Nightrunners . This is a faction Frank says have practically been wiped out after Hakon convinced them to abandon their ascent of the VNC Tower years prior, leading to those that did to be brutalised by the Volatiles. This is why Hakon has made his way onto Lawan's coveted hitlist.
As you repair old antennas around the city, you are able to tune into the Renegade channel, which leads you to believe you can get the drop on Waltz. After defeating waves of Renegades, you are lured into a trap as they realise they were being listened to. You have an outbreak episode and destroy the Renegades. Frank then calls to say that someone tried to warn you of the trap and he wants to meet. This is your old pal Hakon.
You go to meet him, but it quickly becomes clear that Hakon is still working with Waltz, and he wants to turn the GRE key over to him in the hope that he can escape the city. You refuse and must defeat even more Renegades. With no one left to help you finally engage in a fight with Hakon. Eventually you'll defeat Hakon, thinking that he is dead, however, he rises once more but both of you are too tired to fight. Hakon reveals that he didn't abandon the old Nightrunners quite like Lawan or Frank believe. Just then Lawan arrives, seeing the opportunity to score Hakon off her hitlist.
Dying Light 2 Kill Or Save Hakon: Kill Hakon
With Lawan hellbent on revenge, she warns you that she has to kill Hakon. You will be prompted with the decision to either let Lawan kill Hakon, or talk her out of it. Deciding to let Lawan kill Hakon will do just that. Lawan barely hesitates, and a crossbow bolt to the chest proves to be the end of the line for poor Hakon.
Lawan, however, immediately begins to question her decision, as she doesn't feel the satisfaction she thought she would. Killing off Hakon may prove to be deadly for Lawan depending on your choices in the Dying Light 2 detonate charges or sacrifice city choice.
Dying Light 2 Kill Or Save Hakon: Save Hakon
However, if you decide to try and convince Lawan not to kill Hakon, he will see his opportunity to attack Lawan and escape. But as mentioned, this will prove fruitful, as he will influence the outcome of the Dying Light 2 detonate charges or sacrifice city choice later in the game, by helping you and Lawan.
That's all you need to know about the Dying Light 2 save or kill Hakon choice. Following on from this mission you should check our Dying Light 2 Veronika or Juan choice guide.
