Player Roles are a key part of the new tactical overhaul in EA FC 25, so securing the best ones for each position will help you mould your ideal identity and get the most out of your players on the pitch.
Best Player Roles
Every position on the pitch has its own unique set of Player Roles which determine how the player moves. These broadly define the zones and positions that your players will occupy, alongside their work rate in attack and defence.
Roles are split into three tiers of familiarity: standard, +, and ++ - with the latter being the most proficient. Players with a Player Role++ will be able to perform the duties of the role with the greatest efficiency, so it's definitely worth keeping your eyes peeled for them to add to your squad.
Defence

The meta this year seems to be more focused on defensive structures, with the no-nonsense 'Defender' Player Role being a surprisingly strong option.
Fullbacks are between two camps, as you'll either want them to stay back as part of a flat back-four, or to bomb down the touchline to support in attack. Many of the best tactics in the game right now take advantage of both of these in tandem, so you might want to try them out.
Midfield

In the centre of the park, it seems like defensive attributes are once again valued, alongside the ability to ping long passes to the forwards running in behind.
Second Striker looks to be the best CAM Player Role if your player is capable of playing it, as it supports the attack with devastating runs.
Attack

| RW/LW | Wide Playmaker (Attack), Inside Forward (Attack) |
Finally, for attack, you can choose between opposite roles for your wingers, with Inside Forwards cutting into the box, and Wide Playmakers offering support from the channels.
In terms of Strikers, I've found Poacher to be the most effective, especially when playing with wingers - although the Advanced Forward is a great all-around pick too.
