Bringing turn-based actions to football certainly wasn't on my gaming bingo card, but somehow EA FC Tactical has merged the two into something that genuinely looks exciting. EA FC Tactical gameplay explained

The key aspect of EA FC Tactical is that it brings turn-based actions to the football pitch, breaking down key moments like take-ons, last-ditch tackles, and shots on goal into frozen moments where you have to pick the right action.

For example, you'll be presented with the opportunity where Son Heung-min is taking on Virgil van Dijk, and in that moment you can decide to try and dribble past the Dutch defender, take a one-two, shoot on goal, or even pull off a fancy skill move.

You will be able to train your players to master high-level skill moves and unlock new traits to further enhance their abilities. As each turn-based encounter is entirely dictated by the skill of both players, you'll want to ensure that you're as prepared as possible to pull off the most effective moves.

There are over 5,000 authentic players available to use across 10 of the world's top leagues - and you'll be able to customise your team with new stadium designs, kits, and balls.

As someone who loves turn-based combat in games, this is something that I'm very excited to see play out - as it could potentially work very well for the moment-to-moment phases you often see in a football match.

All game modes in EA FC Tactical

Here are all of the game modes that we know exist within EA FC Tactical so far:

  • Limited Time Match
  • Challenge Road
  • League Match
  • Friendly Match

There have also been Guilds and Ranked matches mentioned which will offer group and serious competition to the game. We don't know too much about each mode beyond their names, but we can presume that options like Challenge Road will take you on a tricky path against tough opponents, whereas League Match will have you test your skills across the course of a season.

What platforms is EA FC Tactical on?

EA FC Tactical is exclusively on mobile platforms, and you are able to pre-register on both the Google Play store and Apple App Store right now to ensure that you're ready as soon as the game becomes available to play.

That wraps up everything we currently know about EA FC Tactical right now though, but make sure to check back here again soon as we will definitely learn more and more as the game reaches its launch.
