The story of Elden Ring Castle Morne is one of many to be discovered in the Lands Between, and it covers the fate of Irina and Edgar. Progress in Elden Ring is much the same as previous FromSoftware games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, with little in the way of hand-holding or sign-posting.
As such it can be difficult to find and complete quests that go off the beaten path, and this side quest involving Irina and Edgar is one such example. Taking place to the south of Limgrave in the Weeping Peninsula region, this is what you need to know about the Elden Ring Castle Morne side quest with Irina and Edgar.

Elden Ring Castle Morne: Meeting Irina
The beginning of this quest starts with meeting Irina. To get to the Weeping Peninsula where this quest takes place, head to the south of Limgrave. At the most southern point, you will find the Bridge of Sacrifice. Just after you cross the bridge, you will find a woman sitting on the side of the road to the left. This is Irina, a noblewoman from Castle Morne.
Speaking with her, she tells you that Castle Morne has been taken over by the servants who have turned into monsters. Her father, Edgar, is the warden of the castle and has stayed to defend it. Irina was sent away with a contingent of soldiers but their convoy was attacked and she barely escaped. She gives you a letter and asks that you bring it to her father.

Continue along the road and you will pass through the remains of Irina’s escort. Continue straight ahead and you will come to the Castle Morne Rampart. From here, Castle Morne is visible ahead. Make your way toward it with some quickness, as there is a giant archer who will rain death on you pretty much straight away. Get passed the archer and enter the castle.
Ride the elevator up to the top, and you will be confronted with many of the monsters that were once denizens of the castle. You need to get to the very top, so cross the roof and take the ladder up to the top of the wall. Make your way to the opposite corner and you will find Edgar sitting in one of the few places of refuge left. Talk to him, and he will tell you he plans to fight to the end to defend the castle.
If you give him Irina’s letter, he laments not being able to go with her, as he is duty-bound to go down with the ship, so to speak. His duty is to prevent the mighty weapon of the castle from falling into the wrong hands.

Elden Ring Castle Morne: Unforeseen Consequences
This is where you come in. At the rear of the castle, at ground level, there is a boss room. From Edgar, head south toward the back of the castle and there will be a way to jump down to lower platforms. Use this route to make your way down to the ground, and head for the boss in the southeast.
This boss is Leonine Misbegotten, a feral beast that was once a man. You can summon Edgar here to help you, and you should because he makes a great teammate for this fight. Defeat Leonine and you will receive the Grafted Blade Greatsword. With the weapon in safe hands, return to Edgar and he will tell you his duty is complete and he can go be with his daughter.
Return to where you first met Irina, near the Bridge of Sacrifice. Edgar will be here, but unfortunately, he has found his daughter murdered by the very fiends he stayed to fight. Edgar, of course, blames himself for not putting his daughter’s safety before his duty, and sadly he’s not wrong. Edgar swears revenge on the ones who killed his daughter, and later leaves the region.
That is it, the tragic story of Castle Morne. This was the untimely end for Irina, but we will see Edgar again. For more on that, check out Elden Ring Hyetta: How To Complete Hyetta’s Quest.
