The Elden Ring Hoarfrost Stomp was potentially the most powerful Ashes of War in the game before the recent patch, but it's still worth finding for its effects. Elden Ring adds skills to weapons and shields, and using Ashes of War, you can change the skills that weapons have for more powerful ones. This makes combat feel very different to previous soulsborne games, and adds a new dynamic to the moves you can perform. So, for a rundown of where to find the Elden Ring Hoarfrost Stomp, we've got you covered.

Elden Ring Hoarfrost Stomp: What Does It Do?
The Hoarfrost Stomp is a regular skill that can be applied to any melee weapon, and lets you create a wave of freezing mist in a cone ahead of you by stomping on the ground. It damages enemies and applies a freezing effect, both of which are powerful. In the recent 1.0.3 update, many Elden Ring Ashes of War were nerfed, including the Hoarfrost Stomp, where they reduced its damage and the speed at which you could recast it.
It's still a very powerful skill in many situations, and it's especially effective when fighting groups of enemies because of its area of effect. It also has a very minor FP cost, so you can get a lot of use out of it before needing a Cerulean Flask or having to rest at a site of Lost Grace. The only thing to be aware of when using the skill is that enemies that are close can Guard Counter the effect and knock you out of the animation.
Elden Ring Hoarfrost Stomp: How To Get It?
You can find the Hoarfrost Stomp in Ashes of War form, and as the default skill on a certain weapon. Firstly, the Ashes can be earned by killing an Invisible Scarab in some shallow waters to the south-east of the Carian Manor, which is in the Liurnia region. It's also just north-east of the Lost Grace site at The Ravine. You'll be able to see the glowing footprints as it runs around in circles, so just get ahead and time your attack for when it reaches you. Head to any Lost Grace afterwards to apply it to a new weapon.
The weapon that has the Hoarfrost Stomp by default is called the Icering Hatchet, which is an axe that also inflicts frost damage by default. It's also located in the Liurnia region, and is found south-west of the Raya Lucaria Academy in the Temple Quarter. It can be found inside a chest in one of the buildings in that area.
That's our rundown of the Elden Ring Hoarfrost Stomp skill, and now you how it works in combat, along with where to find it.
