Rough Tarkov, given by Jaeger, is one of the new quests added in Escape from Tarkov's patch 0.15, and is a vital step if you're looking to use tripwires in your raids.

As always, the description of what you need to do here is rather vague, but I've laid out exactly where you need to head to avoid any confusion.

How to complete Rough Tarkov

Undertaking Rough Tarkov requires only two steps, but it'll take you to different maps and into potentially dangerous territory:

  • Locate the heavily mined area on Woods
  • Locate the Claymore mine of Ground Zero

While you might stumble upon these by yourself, it's best to know exactly where you're going as otherwise you'd be at risk of running into a rather unhelpful bang, sending you swiftly back to your stash.

Where is the heavily mined area on Woods?

You'll need to head to the USEC Camp on Woods to find the heavily mined area, and this is just by where you go for Prapor's Search Mission quest.

Head northwest from the logging camp, or southeast of the Abandoned Village, following along the path with the electrical pylons.

Eventually, you should reach a pylon that has a collection of rubbish and a big blue skip next to it. Head up the hill behind here and you'll reach the USEC camp - you'll know you're here when you can see a black 4x4 and a blue pickup truck.

Beyond the two cars should be a medical tent. Head towards and to the left of this medical tent, and continue walking up to the sandbag cover.

The subtask should then be completed once you reach this area, but you might need to jump over the sandbags in order for it to trigger.

Where is the Claymore mine on Ground Zero?

The Claymore mine can be found inside the Empire building on Ground Zero, which is located in the middle of the map, next to TerraGroup and opposite Fusion.

On the ground floor, you'll want to find the Tarbank area, and then locate the hole in the wall here. Inside the hole there will be writing on the wall that states 'Keep Out!' - perhaps an adequate warning.

Continue past the writing down the corridor, and there should be more red writing, this time in Russian, with an arrow pointing forward again. Head round to the right at the end of the corridor and there will be a couple of doors, with the one on the end being open.

Walk up to the open door but don't head inside, as the claymore is located directly beyond the door. The subtask should trigger just before you head in though, giving you enough space to ensure that you're not blown up.

Rough Tarkov quest rewards

Completing Rough Tarkov will get you the following rewards:

  • 4,400 XP
  • +0.01 Jaeger rep
  • 63,030 Roubles
  • 2x Tripwire installation kit

This is the earliest way that you'll be able to get your hands on the tripwire, as they're not found in raid, sold on the flea market, and only become available on the Traders after completing this very questline.
