What Is The Escape From Tarkov Toxic Pre Wipe Event?
The Escape From Tarkov toxic pre wipe event has so much to it that it warranted two separate lore adjacent tweets to explain it, and a message in game too.
To summarise the general gist of the event, there has been a lethal toxin spread throughout the region of Tarkov that requires a specific antidote to deal with it. These antidotes are being administered primarily through Escape From Tarkov airdrop packages, but they are also spread sparingly via the public too.
Furthermore, to control the spread of the lethal toxin, all extracts have been closed on every map. One extract will open, but only after a specific amount of time.
What this means in game is that when you spawn into a raid, you will be instantly be afflicted by the lethal toxin status effect. You can see this on the health tab above your stomach. This is different from the unknown toxic you would get from the Cultists for example, as the lethal toxin does no damage but has a countdown of roughly 480 seconds. After that timer reaches its end, you will just collapse and die.
Multiple airdrops will fly across the map over the course of the raid, dropping packages that contain a single xTG-12 antidote. Using the antidote does 'technically' get rid of the virus, but it instantly gets put back on you due to its presence in the air, so you will need to find another antidote again soon.
Furthermore, there is only one extract available on each map - RUAF on the Escape From Tarkov Woods map, or Emercom on Interchange, but that extraction does not unlock until at least about ten minutes into each raid. You can also only see when it unlocks by going up to the extraction, further increasing the stress of the situation.
Other, additional changes that aren’t explicitly stated in the messages are that every boss is on every map now, and you also have unlimited stamina. Overall, this event dramatically alters the way that you play the game, and it is certainly an interesting - if not chaotic, way to reach the end of this Escape From Tarkov wipe.

How To Survive The Escape From Tarkov Lethal Toxin
The obvious answer when asked how to survive the Escape From Tarkov lethal toxin is to use the xTG-12 antidote, but the reality is a bit more complicated than that. Using the antidote only resets the timer, and with only eight minutes to live each reset you won’t have much time to do anything else.
The key to surviving with the xTG-12 antidote is to carefully manage your timings. Head straight for an antidote as soon as the airdrops enter the map, but only use it when your lethal toxin is close to expiring. Plan your route to the next extract, but make sure to hit some high value areas along the way - remember that you’ve got unlimited stamina, so you can sprint a lot if you’re rushed for time.
One thing to also consider is that bosses drop an antidote when you kill them, so searching out the dangerous foes can not only reward you with good loot, but also a chance to survive. You can hold multiple antidotes on your person in the raid too, so don’t feel like you need to use them as soon as you pick them up.
So, that sums up everything we currently know about the Escape From Tarkov toxic pre wipe event, and how to survive the lethal toxin effect. If you’re wanting to stay up to date with the other event that’s going on at the moment, don’t miss our Escape From Tarkov traders pre wipe event guide.
