Can You Change Concept Player Positions In FIFA 23?
Unfortunately, at this current time, there is no option to change concept player positions in FIFA 23. This means that they will only be able to be inputted in their default position, which if that does not suit the formation means they will be on zero chemistry.
Furthermore, due to out of position players not contributing any chemistry also, any players who would have benefitted from their club, league, or country will not receive any chemistry boosts.
This can be incredibly frustrating when trying to build an SBC with specific chemistry requirements, as you don't want to go and buy a player from the market only to find out it doesn't fit in with the requirements. Furthermore, it can even be annoying when testing out potential squads for your actual team, as any form of hybrid can lead to headaches trying to fit specific players in.
The reason why it is such a problem in FIFA 23 is due to the stricter chemistry requirements. In previous FIFA titles, each position would have a number of 'similar positions' that would give a portion towards the chemistry, meaning you could get a good sense of how your squad would work out with or without any position modifiers. Centre mids for example would get seven chem at CAM and CDM, but in FIFA 23 this is no longer the case.

How To Figure Out Chemistry For Out Of Position Players
There is thankfully a way you can somewhat mitigate any headaches caused by out of position players, however, it is not made entirely obvious to players.
If you put in a player who is out of position, and then look over to the chemistry tracker on the left, you will see that there is a yellow icon filling the spots that they would otherwise boost.
For example, an Argentinian player from River Plate will fill a provisional yellow spot for Argentina, River Plate, and the CONMEBOL Libertadores league. This will not affect the chemistry of any of the active players in your squad, but it does give you an indication of where the chemistry will sit if the out of position players were corrected.
So, that should answer the question if you were wondering in FIFA 23 'can you change concept player positions?' while also giving you a little workaround option too. If you do need help with any FIFA 23 SBC solutions though, make sure to check out our guide for everything that we've covered so far.
