There are unfortunately a few new teams in the FIFA 23 unlicensed club names list, giving fans some frustration if they are thinking of picking them up in Kick Off or Career Mode. As is the nature of licensing in FIFA, some teams, unfortunately, have to have an unofficial name and badge, which can be annoying, especially if you're a supporter. So, to find out who is, unfortunately, making the FIFA 23 unlicensed club names list, make sure to carry on reading down below.

While not as ridiculous as the infamous fake names that plagued the old Pro Evolution Soccer games, these unlicensed club names do unfortunately override the official name, badge, and kit of the club.

In past FIFA games, for example, we have seen Juventus become 'Piemonte Calcio', with a badge that closely resembles their now 'modernised' classic crest, and a generic stadium. However, everything else about the club remains the same, and often they aren't obviously disparaged from a ratings perspective either.

Furthermore, you won't have to worry about players from these unlicensed clubs being excluded from FIFA 23 Ultimate Team promos, as some have even been included in the FIFA 23 Road to the Knockouts players already.

So, here's a full list of the FIFA 23 unlicensed club names, giving you both the real club, and their replacement name in the latest title:

  • Bergamo Calcio (Atalanta)
  • Latium (Lazio)
  • Napoli F.C. (S.S.C. Napoli)
  • Roma F.C. (A.S. Roma)

Sadly it is Serie A that has been hit quite hard, being the only league in the entire game to have any unlicensed teams. Some big names are included here too, like both sides of the Rome derby, Napoli, and Atalanta. Barring the two Milan teams and Juventus, these are arguably the biggest names in Italian football right now, so it is a shame to see them resigned to imitation.

Therefore, if you're wanting to deck out your Ultimate Team club or start a career mode with any of the teams above, you'll have to do so with a big asterisk. We could see them - like Juventus - return in a couple of years though, but with the shift to EA Sports FC after this year, everything is a bit uncertain right now.

So, that rounds off the full list of FIFA 23 unlicensed club names, giving you an idea of which teams aren't quite fully in the latest entry of the long-running series. If you're wanting to keep up with your Ones to Watch cards though, make sure to check out our FIFA 23 OTW tracker to see all of the latest updates.
