You'll need to craft and upgrade gear in Final Fantasy 16 if you're looking to grow stronger. By collecting a few materials and paying a bit of money, you can strengthen your equipment greatly. You'll need it for the tough bosses that reside in the game.

Who crafts and upgrades your gear?

To improve your gear and craft new equipment and weapons, you'll need to speak to Blackthorne. He resides in the Hideaway, your home and main hub in Final Fantasy 16He's located under the anvil symbol in the game's map and UI, and The Black Hammer, where Blackthorne works, is in the southeast area of The Hideway, north of The White Adze.

Speak to Blackthorne and he'll offer up his services after you give him a special item and clear the initial tutorials in The Hideaway.

How to make new gear and upgrade them

Once you speak to Blackthorne, two menus will pop up for "Craft" and "Reinforce." You can create weapons like the Longsword +1,  which requires 1 Gnarled Scale, 42 Wyrrite, and a Dragon Talon.

If you explore the game's environments and defeat monsters that lurk within them, you should get most of the materials you need for crafting weapons. You can also create sashes and other accessories if you press the L1 and R1 buttons.

The Black Hammer in Final Fantasy 16 is where you'll craft weapons and armor.

If you want to strengthen your existing items, press the R2 button. You'll be given a list of the materials you need like creating new gear. For example, if you want to upgrade your Longsword to a +1, you require 1 Gnarled Scale, 7 Wyrrite, and a Dragon Talon. Pretty easy right? You can also compare your gear with the square button. Thankfully Blackthorne's services don't come with a cost. That's grand!

Hopefully, you're in a better position to fight the game's tough bosses and complete your trophy list
